Computers

🛡️ Laptop Care and Responsibility

School-issued laptops are owned by Inspire Academy and are provided to students for academic use.

Parents and students are jointly responsible for ensuring that laptops are:

  • Kept clean and free from damage
  • Stored safely when not in use
  • Transported in the provided protective case
  • Used appropriately for school purposes
  • Returned in good condition at the end of the school year

Students should:

  • 🚫 Avoid eating while using their computer
  • 🥤 Keep drinks away from the device whenever possible
  • 🚫 Avoid placing stickers, decals, or labels on school equipment
  • 🧼 Regularly wipe down the laptop and case to keep them clean
  • 🐾 Keep devices away from pets and other hazards
  • 🎒 Store laptops safely when not in use

✅ Acceptable Use

Students are expected to use school technology responsibly and respectfully.

Appropriate use includes:

  • Participating in classes
  • Completing school assignments
  • Using approved educational resources
  • Communicating appropriately with teachers and classmates
  • Following school technology policies

Examples of misuse include:

  • Downloading unauthorized software
  • Tampering with security settings
  • Using school devices for non-school activities during instructional time
  • Attempting to bypass internet filters
  • Deliberately damaging equipment
  • Using devices in ways that may expose them to preventable damage

🚨 Damage Assessments and Financial Responsibility

All school-issued computers are subject to evaluation by the Inspire Academy IT Department.

Normal wear and tear is expected. However, damage resulting from misuse, neglect, loss, or accidental incidents beyond normal use may result in repair or replacement charges.

The school provides one free accidental damage replacement per student. Any subsequent replacements or repairs may be charged to the family, including a $100 processing fee.

No additional laptops will be issued to any student in a family with outstanding replacement fees.

Families may be charged when the IT Department determines that damage exceeds normal wear and tear, including situations involving:

  • Cracked screens
  • Liquid damage
  • Missing equipment
  • Broken ports or chargers
  • Excessive cosmetic damage
  • Missing protective cases
  • Other preventable damage

📖 Additional Information

Parents are encouraged to review:

  • The Student Computer Care page
  • The Student Handbook
  • School technology updates and communications

These resources contain additional details regarding laptop use, acceptable use expectations, damage assessments, and technology procedures.

📅 Returning Equipment

All laptops and school-issued accessories must be returned on the last day of school.

Items to be returned include:

  • 💻 Laptop
  • 🔌 Charging cord
  • 🧳 Protective case
  • 📦 Original packaging materials (when available)

If a student withdraws from Inspire Academy before the end of the school year, arrangements must be made to return all school-issued equipment within two weeks of withdrawal.

Failure to return equipment may result in replacement charges and may impact future technology checkouts.

🤝 Working Together

Our goal is to provide every student with reliable technology that supports learning and success. By helping students care for their equipment and follow technology expectations, families play an important role in protecting these valuable educational resources for current and future students.
