📚 Taking Care of Your Textbooks

Textbooks are an important learning resource and are shared among students from year to year. By taking good care of your textbooks, you help ensure that future students can use them as well.
The textbooks used by Inspire Academy are rented through the Wisconsin Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Education Department and must be returned in good condition at the end of the school year.

🛡️ Protect Your Textbooks

Please take good care of all textbooks assigned to you by:

  • 🍎 Not eating around your textbooks
  • 🥤 Keeping drinks away from books to prevent spills and water damage
  • ✏️ Not writing, highlighting, drawing, or marking in textbooks
  • 📖 Turning pages carefully to avoid tearing or folding them
  • 🎒 Storing books in a safe location when not in use
  • 🐾 Keeping books away from pets, younger siblings, and anything that could damage them

🚨 Report Damage Immediately

Accidents can happen. If a textbook is damaged, please notify your teacher as soon as possible.
Examples of damage that should be reported include:

  • Torn or missing pages
  • Water damage
  • Writing or markings in the book
  • Loose or damaged binding
  • Missing covers
  • Excessive wear beyond normal use

Reporting damage promptly helps the school document the condition of the book and determine the best course of action.

📖 Textbook Tracking and Responsibility

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, every student will be assigned a patron library code that tracks the specific textbooks checked out to that student throughout the school year.
This system allows the Wisconsin Conference Education Department to identify which books were assigned to each student and to evaluate the condition of those books when they are returned.

💲 Damaged or Lost Textbooks

Students and families are responsible for the textbooks checked out to them.
Normal wear and tear is expected. However, families may be charged for damage that exceeds normal use, including items such as:

  • Any writing or highlighting
  • Torn or missing pages
  • Water damage
  • Missing books
  • Damage caused by food, drinks, pets, or improper storage

When textbooks are returned, they are reviewed and checked in by the Wisconsin Conference Education Department. Any charges related to damaged or lost textbooks will be determined based on their evaluation and may be billed to the student’s family.

✅ A Simple Rule to Remember

Treat your textbook as if it belongs to someone else—because it does! By keeping textbooks clean, protected, and damage-free, you help reduce costs for families and ensure that future students have quality resources for learning.
Thank you for helping us take good care of our shared educational materials! 📚✨
